More details about my overture for string orchestra mentioned in a previous post:
...calme et volupté is inspired by the dreamlike, hypersensitive world of Belgian singer, flautist and composer Mélanie de Biasio. Her album Il viaggio, released in 2023, is the central source of the musical material used, less literally than in the spirit of an instrumental translation of the soundscapes evoked in Mélanie's songs.
The work will be premiered on May 30, 2025 at Le Botanique (Brussels) by the ensemble Musiques Nouvelles conducted by Jean-Paul Dessy.
I'm currently writing the symphonic arrangements of some fifteen songs for a circus show inspired by Alice in Wonderland, to be performed by the Troupe Vertigo at the end of this summer. The Lubbock Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Todd Ellison.
