Anamorphose for voice and quintet

Oboe, clarinet in Bb, voice (bass-baritone), piano, harp, percussions (1 player). Composed in 1996. Unpublished. Duration: 10m.

Like any composer, I undertake projects that are neither commissioned nor even the result of a prior proposal. Sometimes such projects remain on the back burner due to a lack of opportunity. This is the case with this umpteenth *Anamorphose*, written here for a bass-baritone voice and a small instrumental ensemble. The text by Pierre Coran, written specifically for the project, evokes—in a poetic and symbolic way—a personal interpretation of a Masonic initiation ceremony. The evolution of the vocal part—from spoken language to traditional song—is both supported and stimulated by the instrumental accompaniment.
