Suite latino-américaine

Violin, accordion (bandoneon), guitar, piano, bass. Written and premiered in 2002. Soledad quintet. Commissioned by the Soledad quintet. Published by LANTRO music, 2004091054. Duration: 20m.

The genesis of the Suite latino-américaine goes back to the 90'. The tango and the habanera were composed during a musical workshop where I was teaching piano. They were originally written for violin and piano, and successfully created during the teachers' concert. Time passed, and another collaborative project with a singer prompted me to rework these two pieces and add five more. However, the vocal version never came to life. The current, definitive version is the result of my encounter with the tango quintet Soledad, this extraordinary ensemble with which I collaborated so many times.
